PMCS?
Why hasn't the PMBA reading list concept been extended to other fields? I want a personal computer science degree.

ohh, that would be awesome if that list existed.

I feel like I missed out on a lot of career-applicable stuff by not doing the traditional college route. I'm loathe to start up now, because I'd have to start at the very beginning since my worthless art school degree doesn't actually transfer to anything. I don't want to spend two years in english and history classes before getting to the good stuff.

I dunno Josh. You've indicated to me in the past that you wish you had more things going on besides work. What if it turned out that you were fantastic at a creative writing course or that the history of Islamic art was fascinating to you. Maybe there's more at school besides the career-applicable stuff.

Even if you went back to school and had to start over, you're older now and have more of an idea of the kind of person you are based on your experiences in life. School would be a totally different experience for you now.

You're not wrong, but I just think I'd have a really hard time getting motivated to study stuff that I wasn't particularly interested in, even if one in x classes was really compelling, lots of others wouldn't be.

I'm trying to develop a non-work-but-still-technical side of what I do... digital art and datavis stuff, but I haven't gotten very far yet.

Some of those books like like great reads, others not so much.

A lot of universities post course materials and lectures online now - one of my new year's resolutions is to start watching some MIT open courseware lectures.

And of course the syllabi are included.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the MIT stuff. I suppose that would be a start.

Yeah, their CS curriculum is notoriously odd though... just FYI. I'm wondering if somewhere else isn't doing the same thing, Berkeley or wherever.

for the record, all the Gen Ed. stuff you took in art school are transferable.

i've looked into this for similar reasons.
