Most expensive cup of tea ever.
First post from a new 15" MacBook Pro.

I was working from a client's office today when I dumped an entire cup of tea into my laptop. I headed straight for the emergency room and was told that the recommended course of action was to let it dry for three weeks before turning it on. Not an option.

So now I have a new machine which is pretty much the same as my old machine, only ever-so-slightly better. I have a Time Machine backup of the old one, but am choosing to start from scratch anyway. Luckily everything important is either backed up, stored on another machine, or checked into source control.

What are you going to do with the old machine?

Assuming it recovers... Probably replace the old 12" G4 file/print server with it. Not sure what I'll do with the G4 if that happens, though.

Did you see that Apeeture 2.0 launched?

Yeah I did....though I'm a Lightroom user. I'm pretty committed to it.

Time to buy yourself a keyboard condom! Mine has saved me once already when I spilled some water on the macbook and helped it make it to burning man twice now.

Something like this ^^

Not a terrible idea, but it still leaves the speakers exposed. Does it make typing feel awful?

I can type just as fast with it on. Also, when I peel it off to wash it occasionally, the keyboard feels/looks brand spankin new underneath.

These latex keyboard covers can be had on ebay for a few dollars a piece and are worth the investment if you are worried about dust/dirt or if you ever bring food or beverage anywhere near the laptop.

So you invest in Time Machine because .... ?

Because there's no investment involved. I already have another machine with a big drive on it to point at, and configuration consists of a big "on" switch. I expect I'll be pulling little thing that aren't in the cloud from there as-needed during the settling-in period.

Sounds like a pretty successful use case to me.
